DIVA at the V&A Museum
Opening on the 24th June, “DIVA will celebrate the power and creativity of iconic performers, exploring and redefining the role of 'diva' and how this has been subverted or embraced over time across opera, stage, popular music, and film.” - in short, marvel at some iconic artefacts from Elton Johns 50th birthday look, to Andy Warhols Marlyn Monroe screen print.
With names like Grace Jones, Whitney Houston and Billie Holiday, this is sure to be a great day out. Don’t forget - the V&A cafe is nestled in the most incredible setting, so plan some extra time for tea and cake before your visit!

Visit a Drive-in / Open Air Cinema
It’s hard to top a classic cinema date, but for an elevated, nostalgic experience, consider seeing a classic movie in a drive in or open air cinema. On 19th July, Dirty Dancing will be showing at the Guildford Cathedral open air cinema, but a quick google will reveal plenty of other events going on all over the UK.
The Luna cinema hosts open air movie nights in some incredible locations all over the UK showing some amazing movies such as Romeo + Juliet (yes, the Leo version), Elvis and The Devil Wears Prada, to name just a few.

Punting - Hire a Narrowboat
For adults and kids, hiring a punting boat or narrow boat is a great day out for all involved. There are many places across the UK such as Oxford, Godalming (where our showroom is based) and London where you can spend the say out on a lake and live your best Bridget Jones / Daniel Cleever moment…
Camping in Your Own Garden
Image from Telegraph
It’s free, it couldn’t get more local, and it can create the most wonderful memories. Pitch up the tents in your garden or if you’re feeling brave, create a den to spend the night under the stars. Stock up on snacks and if you want to go the extra mile, hang a sheet and create your own outdoor cinema with a smart phone projector.
Wizzard of Oz on the West End
Opening on the 23rd June, the brand new Wizard of Oz show looks like a great day out for all the family. Staring Ashley Banjo from Diversity street dance group and Jason Manford, watch this unforgettable story come to life.

Pick Your Own
Veg, fruit, flowers, there are farms and fields all over the UK where you can go and pick your own. Not only is this a fun way to spend your time, but it encourages learning about growing your own fruit and veg. Plus for those budding chefs, use your freshly picked produce to cook a meal (pudding) for the family! A quick google will reveal local farms and what produce you’re able to pick, to get the creative chef in you excited!
Bletchley Park
For something a bit different, educational and fascinating, how about a day out at Bletchley park. This once top secret location was the home of the codebreakers, who were instrumental in ending WWII. You may recognise it as the filming place The Imitation Game, the fascinating film sharing the story of the codebreakers and the Enigma Machine.
